The Economic Development Department of Ajman was established in 2015 to achieve sustainable economic development, regulate the economic affairs, and activate the business sector in the emirate, in addition to provide trade protection and control for the economic facilities and organize the fair competition among them while practicing their economic activities.
The Department undertakes the business protection as it detected 1,620,563 of counterfeit, adulterated, or corrupt goods during 2022, with an estimated cost of 20,675,724 AED, which was completely destroyed.
The Economic Development Department of Ajman undertakes trade control over approximately 33 thousands active facilities in the emirates with 1,390 different activated activities, which are inspected monthly with 7,833 visits to ensure the facilities commitment of license issuing regulations and availability of appropriate permits. How can the Department continue this mission effectively?
The Department of Economic Development - Ajman Government provides economic licenses and trade permits services for the economic facilities (issuing/renewing/modifying/cancelling/certificates/permits… etc), the department seeks to set economic plans to ensure achieving continuous economic development with the emirate’s proximity to other emirates such as Sharjah, Dubai. Umm Al Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah, and in light of the continuous competition of developing the emirate’s investment environment, as well as the efforts of the emirate to the optimal use of the elements including location and proximity of the other emirates, in addition to the low rents comparing to the other emirates.
One of the challenges that face the economy sector in the UAE is lacking trust for the investor and his inability to make the right investment decision. Therefore, we seek to develop solutions to help the investors in this matter.
The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments is the government authority that manages mosques, koranic schools, endowments, and pilgrimage in the UAE regarding the care, service, and development. The main resource after the government to finance the authority works is the endowment projects. The authority is working to develop these businesses to achieve self-sufficiency through endowment projects development, and it has adapted the concept of “Sustainable Endowment Development” within its mission. As the current situation points out, despite the growth in endowments, the Authority is still in demand to secure endowments development and adopt new methods to provide the endowment with resources that evolve and use both the rapid technology developments and diverse income resources to achieve sufficiency.
The Ministry of Economy aims to help the UAE’s innovators registering patent applications and promote the global innovation index by raising awareness of innovation and enabling the inventors from protecting their rights in marketing the investment, which contributes to building a motivational environment for research, development, and leadership in innovation in the state. As the UAE is currently experiencing:
1- A significant weakness in drafting patent and using external expertise
2- A challenge in transforming the patent into an investment opportunity
The increase of investment and new projects that are developed within the UAE requires approvals from different authorities, which affect the user’s satisfaction and requires a lot of effort and time to complete the data and permits.
In light of the digital transformation for all UAE governmental departments, whoever tries to issue a license or follow up on his business must log in with the UAE Pass, but the UAE Pass can accept only the owner of the trade license to log in and apply or check for the service requests, so there is a problem for people who are in charge and not the owner like the representative or any delegated person and especially when the owner is out of the country, how can they run the service and how can they fix this issue.
